Dubai, UAE: All people and communities of the emirate are called to participate during the November 25th UAE National Sports Day celebrations by the Dubai Sports Council (DSD) in order to make them a great success.
The General Secretary of the DSC, Saeed Hareb told the media that the day is a special day for the entire UAE. Each citizen has the moral responsibility to make the day special for the nation by participating in the celebrations. Activities in the UAE National Sports Day have been planned on the sea, in the air, and on land. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued directives about the celebrations and requires that everyone do their part to show unity in diversity and make this day an integral part of the nation’s identity.
Hareeb was accompanied at the head table by the Director of the Dubai Sports Channel, Rashid Al Amiri, and DIMC Board Member, Eisa Harbash.
Shaikh Mohammad announced that UAE National Sports Day would be held on November 25 earlier this year in an attempt to bring the entire nation together. The President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (UAE NOC), Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohommad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was appointed as the Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee.
Each one of the seven emirates have planned sporting and related activities starting at midnight on November 24 and lasting for 24 hours. View event schedule.
Where will the UAE National Sports Day take place?
Dubai Sports Centre will set their studio up on site in order to cover as many of the activities as they can and the headquarters for events in Dubai will be the DIMC. In keeping with the 44th anniversary of the UAE National Day, Hareeb said that only 44 of the 55 events presented for consideration on this special day were chosen.
Some of the Dubai highlights will include an attempt to enter the Guinness Book Of World Records by Osman Safi and Mohammad Bilal, frequent participants in world-wide Ironman challenges, as they run without stopping on the treadmill for the entire day as well as Vittorio Brumotti, an Italian who holds multiple Guinness World Records, as he attempts to use his bicycle to climb the stairs of the famous Burj Al Arab. The first national UAE football team will be felicitated during the course of the day.
A series of activities has also been lined up by the Crown Prince’s office, according to Hareeb. Associations, social clubs, and banks are all getting involved and planning their own events throughout the day in addition to the official events planned by his office.
Hardeb went on to stres that the UAE National Sports Day is about more than competing. It is about uniting as a nation and about the population being physically active. Consider the 25th of November to be just the start for the remaining days of the year.
