It has been announced that over 1,000 Dubai government services will only be available online for an entire working week. This will take place later this month and it is being led by the Department of Finance. The announcement was made by the Dubai Media Office via Twitter. It is hoped that this will boost the use of government apps and online services.
Dubai Government Services Online For One Week
From October 21st to October 25th, a large number of Dubai government services will only be available online. This is all linked to Dubai becoming one of the smartest cities in the world. In 2017, A Day Without Service Centres saw the services only available online for a day. However, this year it has been extended to a full working week.
For the entire week, customers will be encouraged to use online services instead of service centres. All of the services offered by the government departments that are participating will only be available via applications and websites. A number of services will be included, such as paying bills and putting in customer queries. The aim is for more people to use digital services out of habit, rather than relying on service centres.
Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director-General of the Department of Finance, explained that this is being done as part of a much larger plan. The Department of Finance hopes that all government services will be completely digitalised by the end of 2021.
